About Age UK Somerset during Coronavirus

Age UK Somerset volunteers offered face to face befriending before coronavirus and are now offering telephone befriending.

Age UK Somerset is hard at work providing support for older people during this coronavirus outbreak. We are an independent local charity working in the community across Somerset and North Somerset to help those in later life, older people, their families and carers.

Last year we supported over 100,000 local older people.

Coronavirus support in Somerset

In ordinary times we offer a wide range of activities and services. These services include Ageing Well exercise sessions, Toenail Cutting and Befriending. As a result of the appearance of Coronavirus we have had to stop the services which involve face-to-face contact for now, but we are still here, supporting our local older people in every way that we can.

Free food for those in need.

Age UK Somerset is committed to supporting older people in a variety of ways.

During these tough times some older people, who are living alone, may find getting food a difficulty. We can help put them in touch with a delivery service and, soon we’ll have a limited number of bags of essentials we can deliver to you. Free of charge.

The bag will include a variety of essentials and long life products, and maybe some goodies for a treat.

If you know someone who could benefit please do email us at info@ageuksomerset.org.uk. We can’t promise (it depends on supplies) but will do our very best.
